New poster! (less than 10 posts)
Ask yourself if you really need 2, when at least less than 2 would do the job.
Re: Twin dump valve advice
well anyway i ran 2 bailey dump valves for a weekend, and it sounded crap, gave out the same sound as one dump valve, but just alot quiter.
but if you still want to see your for your self i have 2 dump valvs for sale, and the gt tunning pipe to fit 2 dump valves :cooter:
Re: Twin dump valve advice
Unless you have 2 turbos (which you dont) 2 dump valves will make half the noise of one dump valve. Ask yourself what exactly is being dumped?
Re: Twin dump valve advice
the noise depends on where u put them!
if there the same dv then they will dump at the same time!but if u really wanted 2 u could change for strong/weak internals so they dump one after other!!
personally tho i wouldnt bother!!!!unless ur running 650bhp+ one is loads!!
Re: Twin dump valve advice
Hmmmm.......not so good then.......I just wondered why these things actually existed, seems like a nice idea to me, especially if you could get the two distinct dumps, one after the other.....which it seems you can't.
Shame really, they look pretty cool.
Thanks for all the helpful advice and warnings chaps.........I'll stick with just the one........If that heap of mine ever even runs again!:(
Re: Twin dump valve advice
dont even buy one! never mind 2:disagree:
if you want a sound thing, just up your boost with fuelling to suit and wait for the ...........COMPRESSOR STALL :D You know, the pigeon sound:cooter:
im sure someone will post up what it sounds like:D

I know the sound mate!, they called it chatter on the RS website, favourite of the Cozzie boys who thought dump valves were the spawn of satan!........
Me, I like a good old blast from the dump valve.......scare pensioners, make kids drop their cornets type of thing..........
Chatter/flutter/pigeon noise is COO......L too though......do 1400's have enough oomph to make that noise?.....we shall see, (bung something in the dump valve hose).........
Or double dump valve hose.............
Re: Twin dump valve advice
nothing stalls and nothing chatters, its surge :)

are you sure? aerodynamic stall isn't the same thing as a mechanical stall; which is where I imagine all the nonsense about the turbo 'stopping' comes from.

I'm liking that term Scott mate, Surge!.........not heard it called that before, but it's as good as any of the others........
I used to think "flutter" was a good term for the pigeon type noise..........I really don't know what makes the noise, only that you don't get it if you are running with a dump valve fitted.......and Evo's do it alot.
Re: Twin dump valve advice
isn't the official term..
wastegate chatter.....

Why do you think? The companies that sell them are trying to make money. If they can sell two, they get twice the profit!
