Check the one way valve on the back inlet manifold mate, if your not too sure where it is is directly behind the carb on the manifold there will be 2 of them one for the brake servo and one for the breather pipesQuote:

correct, not part of the pipe.
you need a 21mm or 22mm spanner to undo the valve once you've taken the pipe off. you can check the valve by blowing through it both ways, obviously you should only be able to blow "into" the manifold, not out of the manifold :)

it's normal for thr rpm to fluctuate when you pmp the brake pedal at idle
but it goes from 1000 rpm to 1500 plus rpm that can be rite just by pumping the pedal?
no , it isn't . if your tick over was 1000 rpm it would rise to about 1150 - 1200 rpm . but no more than that . some cars don't go that high . :agree:
yeh so im going to check return values then look for air leaks after i done my heads gasket:o
