There's no cam kits out there for these engines (as far as i'm aware), alot of people fit the cam from a 2.0l Volvo 480 ES.
Other the that its custom profile regrind like mine.

were did you get it done and what about followers and springs????
I got mine done at Piper
I'm still using the original followers in the head but the springs are out of a Pinto engine, i will say they are not a straight swap though head will need abit of work to make them fit
I got different valves in my head too so fitting them will be different from a standard head

how long did it take them to do that and how much it cost ??

not 2 bad then... do have any idea what kind of pofiles would be best 2 get the best gain but still road usable
Guys, how restrictive is the normal cam?
looking for sum thing to keep the power band up2 6500rpm
head ported, gas flowed and blueprinted
garrett gt2560r turbo
250cc sabb injectors
Scoff modified ecu
215mm fast road clutch
front mount intercooler
custom exhaust with screamer pipe
Well its not the best in the world, think its well known for being the main restriction in the engine
any idea were i could get my hands on 1 quick.. did that need any uprated springs ?
Do we know roughly what the most power has been had out of the b18ft with standard cam and t28?
prety much the same spec as mine
except
im using a t28 from a 200sx
and dta
oh an my head is standard except im using the n/a cam
an the saab injector are closer to 350cc if there the same as mine
im having the screamer pipe re routed in to the exhaust as its way to loud and sounds gash
the gt2560r (aka gt28) is for the 200sx and i did think bout the those injectors but decided on then reconed Saab 900/9000 250cc @ 3bar.
i spoke 2 piper an they are gonna see if they can reporfile the cam so mite not need a another cam but will def keep in mind as they mite not be able 2 do any thing
also what kind of power did you get so i mite get a rough idea what i could be looking at when the engine gets running in my clio
the std cam is far to conservative and would be the first tuning part to change imo. not sure, about the 2ltr es cam. dont think i've tried one or know if it works. the one i use is from the b18e engine (with the 4 into1 inlet manifold), next best profile is from the b18ep engine, but tbh is probably better if you only plan to use std ecu's limited to 6200 revs as the power band is slightly lower. the e cam doesn't tail of til around 6600 revs. if you are goin the standalone route then catcams do a nice spec with just shy of 3mm extra lift, £550 with springs etc.
regards injectors, i'd stick with std fuel reg and adjust afm for larger ones. the 740 volvo turbo ones (the matching resistor pack is required or you'll blow ecu outputs) fuel nice to about 18-20psi on a t28, for more boost the saab reds(bosch number 481's i think) will provide plenty of fuel at 7200revs @ 25psi where my engine starts to det. however we've set up cars that det lower so worthwile checkin above 20psi.
i do have a cam for sale but not measured so unsure whether is e or ep as its been a while, will check, £50.
also have other used spares like cranks, 215mm flwheels with clutch plates, covers, long arm conversions and other items. drop me a pm.
The saab injectors were 431 chris.
The volvo cam data I have says:
b18ft:
inlet lift: 9.49mm
exhaust lift: 9.13mm
inlet timing: 5°-55°
exhaust timing: 43°-9°
b18e (the best of the lot):
inlet lift: 10.49mm
exhaust lift: 10.49mm
inlet timing: 16°-64°
exhaust timing: 64°-16°
The b18ep cam has similar lift to the b18e but has nothing like the duration.
cheers for the extra info. has there been any updates to the article as there seems to be alot of repeat questions and loads of ways to do the conversion. i'll add wat i can to wats there n email it over to ya ;)
what car is the b18e cam found in is it any 1.8l 440 460 480?
ended up having cam reprofiled by piper for £140+vat
OK cool so they have not received it to determine what profile is possible, it would be good to see what they can do with the standards cam then maybe a n/a as it has more meat on it.
I have a 2.0 cam in the garage and was wondering if someone could measure the standard cam lobs at it two biggest point on the inlet and the exhaust lobes.....just in case they are different. It would be interesting to know the physical differences?:)
I have compared it to the standard cam in the head but could not take any accurate measurment......it did not look like it had as much duration, as the the 2.0 cam.
