Re: Steam in the exhaust...
Bump.
I got to lunch in 15 mins so could do with advice ASAP.
Re: Steam in the exhaust...
Ok, any chance it could just be condensation in the exhaust, after it beng hot, then cooling then hot then cooling after being driven? keep an eye on coolant level once re-filled
Re: Steam in the exhaust...
It's drinking coolant just very slowly.
Re: Steam in the exhaust...
Possibly cracked the inlet manifold?
Re: Steam in the exhaust...
Pressurise the cooling system to see if any of the hoses have any knicks in them.
Re: Steam in the exhaust...
I've pressurised the coolant system and there aren't any leaks in it so it's definitely manifold or head gasket :(
I have a spare manifold so I'm gonna try that first. I also have an uprated head gasket and bolts but haven't done a head removal yet. Is there a guide on here for how to do it? I've had a search but it doesn't come up with quite what i need unfortunately.
Re: Steam in the exhaust...
keep driving and monitoring. chances are itll be fine. headgaskest take a fair bit of killing from heat not so much to kill from det :D
Only real way to tell if headgaskets gone is if its massively pressurising or using a CO tester.
Re: Steam in the exhaust...
Comp test it? Aslong as it didnt overheat it will probably be ok.
Re: Steam in the exhaust...
give it a good lash! u'll soon know weather u hav a crack or not!!lol
