F7p flywheel change query
As per title I am after some advice, I am currently running the std valver flywheel which cannot be used for wasted spark, I believe the 172 flywheel fit's but do I need to modify the 172 flywheel in anyway for this?? anyone got any pic's of what's needed to be done?
Re: F7p flywheel change query
I have just done this to my car had a spare megane engine f7r so used that flywheel no modification need apart from new clutch clio 172 flywheel is the same

:agree: Is that on Std ecu or standalone? I only ask as I am wanting to do this so I can upgrade to wasted spark setup:agree:
Re: F7p flywheel change query
Yes I am running standalone ecu and wasted spark
Re: F7p flywheel change query
Re: F7p flywheel change query
Wow nice conversion :agree:
Many thanks for info
Re: F7p flywheel change query
Yes James 172 fylwheel and clutch and 172 plug leads to fit wasted coil pack;)
Re: F7p flywheel change query
I'm confused? I was under the impression from seeing in a previous thread that A tooth on the flywheel needs to be modified ?
Re: F7p flywheel change query
The f7p and f7r engines flywheels will not work with wasted spark a flywheel from f4r engine will work, simples:D
Re: F7p flywheel change query
thx for clearing this up rob we were looking at mikes f7r which russ did but we wasnt sure what hes done, we read the project thread but its no conclusive :disagree:

:agree: Must be not sure what Steer from the rear done as his thread shows modifying the teeth, maybe he just stuck a f4r jobbie in
Re: F7p flywheel change query
The 172 flywheel is 59-2-2, to make it a true 60-2 you would have to remove a bit like steer from the rear did. Wetjer or not it's neccesary for the management to recognise is is debatable, only one way to find out;)
The reason they made a long tooth just before the gap has something to do with signal noise, or to be more precise the dampening of it.
Megane and 172 flywheel are the same, and as Robbie said: the f7p and pre megane f7r flywheel won't work as they're identical on both sides so the management wouldn't know which piston is up....
Re: F7p flywheel change query
Cheers Robbie & Arthur I should have thought just to whatsapp you guys but then at least this may help others being on here now :D:agree::agree:
Re: F7p flywheel change query
Westy is using my old setup 172 flywheel vw wasted coil pack and 172 ignition leads:)
Re: F7p flywheel change query
Does the standalone recognise the flywheel as 60-2 Rob?
Re: F7p flywheel change query
Yea-up had up to 500hp with that setup and blu three jc5 gearboxes in a couple of days:D
Re: F7p flywheel change query
Guess it'll be fine then. I just used a file on the 02M flywheel as i couldn't risk having to pull everything out again!
