Headlight main beam not working help please

My main beam works if the headlights are not on but as soon as I switch on dipped or main beam it does not work anyone point me to why it does this

Really switch works ok when no other lights are on thought it would not work at all if it was the switch?

pretty sure its a different part of the switch taht operate the permanent main beam when the lights are on


but hopefully someone more clever than me will tell u for sure, dont want u to order one on m y say lol

When you say works without lights on I assume you are just flashing the main beam?

What is the correct operation for the main beam on R5 as its never worked properly on mine, do you pull the switch towards you to select main beam (once dipped lights are on)? how do you flash the headlights normally?

95% its the switch ,its a common failure on most renaults .

yes whne the lights are on you pull the light switch towards you and the main beam should come on and go off, mine does not do that but if i switch the lights on and just flash the lights it works.

:agree: Switch is sha%%ed. Just replace it. as above.

its above the fuse board.
if that aint the prob look at the plug the goes the the switch wre the plug goes onto the switch have a look at how many terminals there are there should be 6 on the switch if there is only five you goona need a new switch

You can check for 12v at the switch plug or even short out the relevant plug terminals to check:
