John, I think that is a cool idea and have always wanted to do something like that myself but with the kids and the Mrs's it's hard enough trying to keep a 5 as a hobby car.

years ago i had planned to do an o gauge layout inmy garden. then i found renault 5's. Seeing as the weather is appauling 90% of the time a loft layout in oo seems a safer bet :)

Don't we do stuff like this to stop ourselves going mad? That's what I always thought anyway.

Who from RTOC is going to be your fat controller JRP? :D

00 gauge. Used to have one of these at my grandad's house when I was a kid. Had an APT with the full on tilt mech. Loved it!

Im going to build an oo gauge model railway in my loft.
I bought my bungalow just so I could build an OO gauge model railway in the loft!
I now have a 20' by 12' room up there with a 72' run, end to end, based on the
MSWJR, assuming they built the line to connect Tidworth with the LSWR near Amesbury.

Both the yards - (5 tracks of up to 15' each, laid side by side) and the main station have
full point LED indicator detection and interlock with a block control system.

I was a signalman for 20 years, so I had no excuse! I built a fair few wagons and points
whilst I was on night shifts. I even took one of the main boards (yard entry fans) in to
do the wiring. I built a 5' viaduct and based the station layout on Dulverton (GWR).

Sadly, my railway modelling days are over as I got overtaken by a nerve disability that
has almost destroyed the motor function in my hands. I still have all my scratch-built
locos - not sure that I could be parted from them. Most of the stock was scratch built
too, though there RTR items as well.

So, like your Renault fascination, you are in good company!

Regards,
Steve

Well, I'm neither fat nor phat, nor a control freak but I'm often grumpy and I like top hats. You're on.

train sets r surely for geeks

Grrrrrrrrrr...

The skills that you learn,
the history that you research,
the antics of the people you learn about in that research
the sheer relaxation,
the satisfaction of something _you_ built accurately from scratch,
the envy from others who wish _they_ had the patience,
the rush from those who want to have their go...

I could go on, and on, but I think you get the drift!

Let's take it back to Renault - how much do you know about a certain
chap by the name of "Gordini"? If it's nowt, do the research, you might
just be amazed...

Steve

Upset? You have no idea how tempted I am to say that it's _you_ whom
I feel sorry for...

Ooooopz - I just did :coffee:

How about this for the ultimate railway modelling project (http://www.a1steam.com/). What wouldn't I give
to be able to open up the throttle on that, with 12 coaches behind on a main line.

Steve

lol what you like maybe we should call you the antagonizer :p

Never mind trains what you need is a uber scaletrix setup, some woman was selling a load on the car boot last weekend for £50. Le mans and porsche power box sets I was sooo tempted.

The best Gauge is N, by far, i still have all mine from all the popular gauges :). Its just as geeky as playing with a 20year old car.
