My friend sat next to me at work ia adamant that his standard audi tt (phase 1) will beat the 5 in a race....now as mine is currently being repaired i cant prove him wrong but ive asked him to put his log book on the line instead.

Could you all please just write a small note on here just explaining to him how his car would fare against a 5 (rather high specced).

Mucho appreciato xxxxx

tell him to go pod and have a 1/4 session with (forgive me stuart) stu clarke hahahaha that tt would get wasted.

Prob get wasted by a much lesser 5 in all fairness.

Saying that i loved driving the mk1 tt but tank springs to mind ;) and im to big for them lol

I know we all love 5's and other renault turbos alike... but their is no hiding the fact that the 225 quattro is a very quick car once its going.

At the business end the car is powered by the same 1.8T (1781cc) engine fitted to a variety of models across the VAG range. In this case boost has been increased by means of a re-chip, and twin intercoolers have been fitted. These prevent the charged air from getting unuseably hot before it enters the 5 valve per cylinder, transverse mounted, in line four engine. The result is 225bhp at 5,900 rpm and 206 lb/ft at 2200 rpm. However, the car weighs a hefty (well, for a two seater anyway) 1395 KG and so the power to weight ratio is 157 bhp/ton. This

I think they look okay.

Depends how you look upon it. He will lose power from having 4 wheel drive, but the power will be put down better. It would be close. Around town id fancy the 5, in a straight line on a motorway then the audi will stuff the five.

yeah i agree with above tbh ^^ but lets also face it , audi designed the TT for hairdressers (hence the crap space in the back) its intended to hold a hairdressers bag including hair dryer, scissors, shaver and other crap hairdressers use !

lol.

And renault invented the 5 with a decent boot to hold spare headgaskets, turbos, gearbox, 10mm, 11mm, 12mm, 13mm nuts and bolts. Full tool kit, water, oil and other sundries.

Folding seats just incase you wish to carry 2 of everthing

Thats why the spare wheel is at the bottom of car....

But i fookin love em

My daughter's got a TT Turbo......god knows what model......It's red.........and she drives it like a girl!...............damn!

Anyhow, I've had a little go in it, like you do...........and it's rapid..........very rapid.

How would it fare against a modded GTT?, well I'd like to say, but can't, because I've only covered (limped) 10 miles in mine before the engine let go......(guess who bought a lemon!!!) but, from the brief little drive I had, I'd fancy the 5 0-60 then maybe the TT thereafter, but hey, I know nowt about 5's yet (that's going to change though, new engine bought today!!!!)

Or put it another way, round town then the 5 would have the TT....put them on a motorway and it's goodnight Vienna.......and head gasket if mine's owt to go by!

yeah the discussion was across a load of dual carriageways, im gonna have to time my 5 0-100 because it is extremely fast.

With the turbo that i run it doesnt get lag some of us are baffled as to how well it works....

turbo kicks in at 2500 right through to 7k :D
