View Full Version : Brake Reservoir Cap Compatability

I just sorted one issue with my car for the Oz engineering compliance only to be struck by another related issue.

My brake reservoir cap has gone open circuit when lifted out of the reservoir to simulate low fluid level.

To this end i'm trying to find a reservoir cap from another model that might the GTT reservoir? I'm thinking along the lines of cars available in Oz listed below:

R19 TXE
CLIO Mk 2
CLIO Mk 3
SCENIC
Maybe even Pug 205 GTI?

Any advice appreciated.

Are the Brake Fluid Reservoirs the same on all R19 models?

er isnt that what ita supposed to do matey?? Light comes on when no fluid is detected??

When I lift the Reservoir Cap up (to simulate low fluid), the light does not come on. If I short the plug going to the cap, the light does come on.

they realy are going in to detail on your test eh ,

i dont know about the 5 but on some cars the way to test the switch is to press the rubber button on the brake fluid cap ,this should make the light come on ,

A cap off a newer renault will fit, i got one off a new clio in the scrapyard.

i think mine was off a newer clio or megane. Mk2 clio will fit fine though. The newer caps on most renaults are essentially the same, wiring even plugged straight in

Sorted. Got the cap from a Scenic RX4 that a local guy was breaking. It has a different plug so I cut the old one off and crimped the new one in. The plug has a better "weather proof" type of fitting so should last a little longer.

I tried soldering the wires but, the old wires were black and even after trying to clean them up, the solder just wouldn't take. I'm sure there's some kind of cleaning solution out there that could do the job. A mild acid dip?

The compliance Engineer will do the re-inspection some time next week!!!!!!:D
