can this be done?? as when you go for a MOT they put chassie number witch is stamped on the body into the DVLA computer, if it dont match then you dont get a MOT
correct me if im wrong tho;)

Surely a HPI check for a few quid will resolve this argument?

I suppose it could be done becuase when I had an MOT a few years back on a previous GTT I had a strut brace in situ it covered the chassis number so they requested to see my V5 and took the number of that without even seeing if the one on the car matched.

Cutting and welding the chassis number from one car to another? obviously totally illegal hence ringing
all i ment is if it where to be officialy done.... can you not reshell a car? with all relivant documentation from dvla etc etc

No the car ID is tied to the chassis, or at least thats what i've been told on one occasion by the dvla.

are there different types of vehicle checks you can do?? the reason i ask is that there are a few online and the prices vary from 4.99 up to 19.99
could someone advise what check i should use to check on a cars history thoroughly?

yer raj there is various diffrent check you can do they start at 5£
and go up to 20£
5£ is the basic search then the 10£ is has the car ever been crashed or stolen or is it hp free then the 20£ 1 is a full check engine numbers number of owners etc
