View Full Version : driveshaft spraying grease on block?
I've got a stange one.. I've got gue spraying up the engine block and on the manifold I'm assuming I have a little hole somewhere in the driveshaft boot or the boot gets too hot and grease seeps out.. I thought it was a engine block leak but I remeber having a simular thing when I had a different engine..
..can these inner boots be replaced?

A company called Firstline supply one, part no. FCB2640, dimensions are listed as 33mmx110mmx78mm. :)
thanks I found the website but they have not buy options or distrubutor list.. do I buy direct from them? and did it come with the straps to secure it?

It will be a kit, their boots usually come supplied with grease and securing ties, their phone number is (01869) 248 484, might be worth giving them a shout, if they won't sell direct then they should be able to tell you their nearest stockist. Price should be in the region of £10.00inc. vat. :)

I dont think you can buy from Firstline direct but nearly every part supplier around my way use them. Motor Parts Direct etc etc
tbh Andy you are best changing the whole driveshaft, it'll probably only be a tenner more than buying the CV joint boot. Seperating the boot from the shaft can be a barsteward of a job, grease everywhere. You need a fitting tool to get the new one on as well

you can get stretchy boots and a fitting cone. You don't need to remove the CV as the stretch over it... I forget where I got it from but I used one on my Delica.

or, if it's a small hole, superglue is your friend...

that could be an option.. I've found the hole not very big at all... any recomendations for a superglue that'll do the business and can withstand a bit of heat from the manifold nearby ?

Cyanoacrylate will glue most rubbers, this is standard superglue, just check to see whether it is on the label!
