renault 19 cab handling

Im running a factory suspension set up on my r19 16v cab.
Just a question for those that have owned one or have one currently.

Does anyone else think that these cars handle remarkably well? or am i smoking crack!!

renault 19 16v s in general are great handling cars hence
the arb and front track from the 19 was used in williams
the downside to them is the weight unfortunately .

never driven a cab 16v but from what i heard over the years
the best handling order is as follows
16v hatch > 16v chamade > 16v cabby

the difference would be very minimal i guess and also would be dependant on
the condition and genuinity of the suspension components ( see many 19 16vs
fitted with non 16v shocks/springs etc )

They handle miles better than the normal 19 16v, this is due to the amount of strengthening added underneath. As for that order I disagree, the cab was a lot better than my chamade I had. Only had a small drive of the hatch but not long enough to get an opinion on that.

which is why you can't use R19 driveshafts on a Williams. I think R19 and 172 are pretty close.

removing the roof of the cab (weight) and adding a rollcage as well as some aftermarket shocks/springs to the cab.
do we think this would improve the handling some what?

i have an F7R engine to drop in it as a temporary measure, to see if it would be any good. before looking at any more drastic - expensive options.

you dont often see many people on here using the R19 for much. i know we have had a few r19 c1j conversions and the odd cab floating about. But it would be nice to see som of the old school R19s getting some rtoc love.

just woundered if anyone tried uprating the suspension set ups and if it handles even better?

Yup i undertand the weight of the car is an issue.

My RTOC love for my 19 cab is took it to Germany twice (go round the ring 4 times in total with 4 up), whole day at Mallory park (last year) plus meeting up with people and some shows across the country. Only real problem I have had with it was the gearbox go on me :(

i've just got rid of mine, but it handled beautifully, and with stretched tyres on it was easy to get lift off oversteer around wet roundabouts which was always good fun!

mine was just lowered 60mm on from springs, and std shocks, and rear lowered to match. handled poop on 17's compared to 15's too

i miss it on days like we're having at the mo, but on the plus side i'm driving the orange one every day until my raider is on the road so can't complain

the cabs do look good with a bit of lowering.
think its the next move on the list after fitting the f7r lump
