Ok , i need to repaint and repair a few parts of my J plate r5s kit.. my questiion is what exactly is it they are made of , fibreglass or plastic ? and therefore my question is does it require a plastic etch primer to adhere or will i be ok to simply use a white high build primer straight up.

I have always just used high buikd 2k primer and then painted colour on. If they have paint on already you will get a good key when you sand it off to prime.Never had a problem with body kits and bumpers. They are not plastic so don't need plastic primer I don't reckon.

sweet m thats the approach i will take then. Its my first time on a large item spraying, and my first time with using a base and clearcoat.

I also plan to remove the bumper strips and fill these areas. Whats the best way to attack them,? p40 firbeglass mix to fill the groove and then a skim of filler and lots of block sanding ?
