Right lads a couple of months ago I had a thread running about the turbo fitted to my clio. there was a lot of speculation and the outcome was that it was a GT2860r.
Well I spoke to universal turbos last week and the person I spoke to went to the effort of bringing up the info on the computer and its actually a GT2560r with a modified t3 compressor housing.
The stats are
Turbine
-Wheel: 53mm w/ 62 trim
-Housing: .64 ar
Compressor
-Wheel: 60mm w/ 60 trim
-Housing: .60 ar
Would anyone like to have an educated guess at the feasibility of running 300bhp+ with it?
The reason I ask is I'm gearing fuel sytem (pressure/injectors) for 300+ but don't see the point if the turbos only good for 280.
What effect will the T3 comp cover have over the stock 200sx style comp cover?

It should be good for 300hp
Even at only 300hp it will not be very efficient on that compressor, but it should do it. 300+ is going to be too much to ask though.

what engine is this?
Well I'm aiming for 300 so that should suffice for the time being.
The problem is the space between the bulk head and the engine.
Think if I want a bigger turbo I'll need a nice tubular manifold to bring the turbo round to above the g/box as per Scoffs and Ashy's.

Ok, personally I think that turbo will be too small then, I'll put my money on circa 260hp. For 300 I'd say use a GT28RS with the .86. Not sure if that would fit on your manifold though. Even then, I'm not sure that the log manifold is the way to go for that power.

There is a clio already running 290 bhp and 270 lb/ft running identical set up to me except he's using
480cc injectors
255lph fuel pump
3.5 bar fse fpr
I'm looking to run it with
630cc injectors and a 3.8 or 4 bar fpr
To be honest I think if I spend anymore money on it the GF is gonna execute me.
It's quite funny, when I set out to turbo my car I only wanted a nice useable/ reliable 220/230bhp. However I've become obsessed with 300bhp for some reason and am determined to get to it. I think it's to justify the amount of cash tht I've thrown at it so far.
My concern is that once the engine is done I'm going to encounter traction and gearbox issues.
Only time will tell though, it's booked in for the mapping on the 24th so will post the results afterwards.

You won't need that much injector or fuel pressure to make 300hp. 630cc and 3 bar will do you fine.

Those 480cc injectors your friend is running should be fine for 300hp, or you could fudge the pressure a bit to be safe. For sure, as Scoff has mentioned, there's defo no need for 630's.
2560r should scrape 300hp, but at what efficiency? I'd say 28rs, and being slightly lazier/laggy, should retain some form of gearbox reliability.

Yes Rob it's that tight, that it's had to have special lugs welded to the comp housing to mount the actuator closer to the turbo, otherwise if using a normal actuator bracket it would foul the bulk head.
If i went to a gt28rs i would need a new tubular manifold

coming to this a little late, but I'm not really convinced the test is a true comparison. There are too many variables depending on the exhaust port configuration and pressure profile of the flow at the interface that could throw this out (albeit cross cylinder backflow is big disadvantage for the log and example shown is pretty poor for that). I'm sure the tubular manifold has been optimised, and looking at the log probably not. Log manifolds designed with pulse converter branches are especially effective in turbo diesels and don't see why this wouldn't apply to SI engines too.
