Alarm Gremlins!

Hi All,

My alarm has decided to arm it's self when I re-connected my battery (prefectly normal I know) problem is both of my key fobs are fubar!:(

Upon reading the alarm users guide it states that it's fitted with a feature that allows me to turn the alarm off by switching a toggle in the opposite direction?? just incase the key fob battery dies or the fob decideds it's being a dipstick.

So does anybody have any ideas where this "toggle" will be?

I have tryed the black box under the seat and had a good look around the immobiliser area all to no avail:scratch:

P.s the alarm is a cobra a960 and it was probably around in the 1960's it's so old!

I no some have a key switch on the underside of the bell itself, but I'm no expert just what I've seen.

Ok, this alarm is doing my head in as it's so old I'm planning on stripping the piece of **** out! :mad:

Problem is I can't find any wiring diagrams for it. :scratch:

So I'm a bit stumped:confused:

I have been quoted £65 quid to strip it out by an alarm specialist but I can see it now wires being chopped and tucked back into the plastic trim and general corner cutting/ sloppy workmanship. :disagree:

Anybody stripped an alarm out before that can give me some tips?

In theory remving an alarm is pretty straight forward. The hard part is removing the dash to gain access to the wiring looms. once the dash is out just look for any non oe coloured wiring, trace it back to where its t'd (soldered) to the oe loom cut it off and tape up the oe loom. The main areas are ignition barrel loom, courtasy light and courtasy light door switches, window and central locking switches. You mite also have a boot and bonnet (springy rod type) sensor/switch. infa red sensors on a pillars. and the obvious alarm siren needs removing. :)
