iv just taken the sump off of my mates zvh engine because he was moaning about a noise and i found 5 valve collets in there!!!!!!but none of his are missing!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cry::sad2::scratch:!!!got me thinking has anyone found any random bits when strippin engines???

ted found a jay cloth in his sump and it ran for a year with it in there even doing runs at the pod every other day :eek:

i remember some one in the club found masking tape in the sump or in the block :) forgot who it was

Its not exactly something that you would expect to be there but,

I went to a job once to carry out a service on an escort.

When taking the oil out there was only about a litre and when filling it back up you could only get about a litre in before it read full.

when taking the sump of the hole thing was full of THICK oil. So thick that we had to scoop it out of the sump and when placed in a cup you could turn it upside down without it falling out.

I've never seen anything like it and was quite amazed. The oil had actually made small paths in the thick sludge and a small area around the pick up that was obviously only circulating a litre of oil.


Other than that I found my piston rings after trying to put a new liner on without removing any bottom end and cracking them HAHAHAHA :wasntme: - why didnt I just pop the sump off and undo the rod...
