i have just bought a set of anti roll bar bushes inners and outtas , i have fitted the outtas no problem but i can not fit the inners at all the clip is a mile out from the hole, and will not go around the bushe at all

So i order a phase 2 kit powerflex , i have a 1990 h reg phase 2 car .
So it looks like i have a phase 1 subframe on a phase 2 ?????????
But the outtas fit correctly .

Where do i buy phase 1 inners ?
Or have i done some thing wrong???

here are the pics

Let me know your thoughts thanks matt.

JRP is having a similar problem, looking at your first pic and comparing it with the ones I got off reno the lip doesn't seem to be bent under enough to stop it slipping out of the slot on the subframe.

The new ones look the same as my new ones which look similar to the ones on the car, those old ones of yours look as though they have had all life squished out of them, looks like it might just need superhuman strength to compress them down.

the clip will not even go round half way on the new bushes ??

this is hacking me off also. the new bushes i have are the same size as the ones comming off... i hope i have the correct size.

Mine dont seem to be bent enough either and then dont grab and slip out... ohh this is a fecking nuisance

I'll post up a pic when I get home, not sure if I should have commented as I've not fitted but after JRP's problems I crawled underneath and offered up new bush and clip and it looked as though once you thread the bolt through tightening that then compresses the bush.

Been trying but it seems like I cannot download pics direct from my phone onto the forum but they do illustrate what I was saying if you want me to email them.

cnt get the bolt any where near the hole to compress the bush , u need to upload pics from photobucket from your phone then post the link on here.

Any One else got thoughts on this topic as i will order phase 1 bushes can any 1 tell me if i have got a phase 1 subframe even though my car is phase 2 ???

I've had this problem twice on mine!

I bought my bushes from Rally Design. You need to order the PH 1 inner bushes - they will then fit! :)

Have you tried turning the bush over with the cut upwards the new bracket I have fits snugly around it that way but not the way you have it in your pic. It could be they redesigned the besclet to fit the bush.

small is early type, large is later type. I won't use the words PH anything as that would be talking bollocks. You want the ones that fit your subframe/brackets.

the ones that came poff andrew are the same size... thing is thats after 20 years of being in situ. could the ones that have come out been bigger 20 years ago? and have now become the size of the new ones, or have i got the right ones and am just having real difficultys with the brackets?

you're being a wuss with the brackets, clamp them with grips, then fit the bolts.

Better late than never but i think these show what I was trying to say. The lug on the bottom of the bracket is curled out a lot more than on the picture of yours and though the top of the bracket seems to be slightly short, if I remember rightly the fitting on the subframe leans towards it.

Cheers for your input hoolio , but i am sure its the early type on my car which is the problem will let you know , if not the clips are damaged or the subframe clip area is , will let you all know when the new bushes arrive:)

i got similar inner bushes here , the length is 42mm like you say
but the inner diameter is around 21mm

any r5 gtt s came with 21mm bushes ?

Just dug the other one out and that's 19! On 7700798052 so they are clearly not exact, the larger the diameter of the hole the less likelyhood of the bar expanding the bush any further. What is the diameter of the bar anyway?

fyi, i had this problem last year.

early r5 gtt ( smaller external size ph1 type) inner arb bushes are nla from renault, they only sell the ph2 later shape bushes same as early clios

Powerflex only sell the later larger external size r5 gtt ph2/ clio inner arb bushes

I bought ph 1 type polly inner arb bushes for my 1987 r5gtt from a company called floflex on ebay.:)
