the top gasket has a leak on a relatives renault scenic 1.6 16v. the inlet manifold runs are plastic and i need to remove it before i can replace the gasket.

all bolts are off and the manifold is loose moving about. but it still seams to be attached in someway and won't come all the way off :scared:

any ideas?? the throttle body is at the back of the engine, so i'm guessing its that, but can't see any clips holding it on?? are they pressed in, and a sharp pull would remove it?

it looks something like this:

u can remove the scuttle grille panel easily enough to give u extra access.

Couple of 10mm head bolts through the throttle body and into the head....

But, there is no gasket between the head and the cam/rocker cover....its glued on and you will disturb the camshafts and timing if you take it off.....
Where is the oil leak??

there are 2 10 mm bolts that go from the throttle body to the plastic inlet!under the big hole there the air goes theres one to the bottom left and one to the bottom right!

if ur planning on taking the rocker cover off be warned that ul have to take the cam pulleies off so ul need a belt and locking tools!!they have oil seals on each cam which r a fav for leaking!

basically there's oil spraying around coil pack 2, and it's pooling on the cam cover, i can see where the seal has blown out. i don't think it is the cam cover, there seems to be another plate bolted onto the cam cover which is causing the problem.

i've got the replacement resin ready. just can't get the manifold off at all.

so i'll need to take the throttle body off in order to get the manifold off?? :scared:

u need 2 take out the 2 10mm bolts then the throttle body will pop out then the manifold will lift off with a wiggle!!

on the top of the rocker cover there is is oil breather (cover above the exhaust cam)they can leak sometimes u just need some gunk to seal it as theres no gasket!!
