.................I'm considering............, possibly.........., selling her on & getting something else, maybe a clio williams 1 if I can find one in comparable condition to my 5 (Not gonna be easy;)) .
I've been checking out what available on the market for a while & tbh the prices of 5GT's seem to vary a hell of a lot. There's generally quite a few that are 1.5-2K, but they don't seem that good. Then theres 2-2.5K, they look ok in the photo's but some are still a bit on th tatty side, then there's 2.5K-3K & 3K+. Seems to be the top end of the market & some look really good in the ad's but what they are actually like in the flesh I don't no. I no that "someting is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it" & "There's always a buyer out their" but its not easy to price a 5GT really.
Has anyone been to look at any recently & thought they were priced right for the condition?

That is looking tip top bud, really liking the look of that myself! Sell the car for what you think it is worth, or even better, don't sell it at all! You can never replace the time and money spent on projects like these, you will just be dissapointed if you do sell it. In my honest opinion though, the cars that go for circa 3-4k should only be priced that high if they are absolutely OE and mint right down to the last cable clip, or are well tuned with performance figures and hard work to show. Anything else and I think this price bracket is way too high!
Have to agree with the previous comment unless you have a high spec engine it looks all shinny and you have other items such as uprated brakes and shocks ect ect your struggle to get top end money.
Bodywork wise you can not be faulted as it looks mint,
I would say around the 2 to 2.5 grand area if the rest is pretty much standard.
£2750 seems a fair price... but will you feel like its worth it once its gone. very little money if you think about it for such alot of car and effort.
if you want a clio williams or what ever take the route i do to save.
For example. for every £10 i bet a put another £10 into savings.
Normaly at the end of the same day i have put the £10 in savings i can add anything from £0 to £1000 ;)
And Before people ask, Im up ;)

went to see a ph1 the other day , body and interior standard, a few basic engine mods engine rebuilt cpl years back using k-tec pistons (standard)102,000 miles showing on the clock , guy wanted 2.5k , the bodywork needed 2 sills ,window surround corners rusted , both quarters rusted at the bottom , lacquer on the roof flaking wings dented , basically needed a full respray :sad2:
i walked away without making an offer , i didnt want to sound cheeky :)
the guy had bought it 2 years ago from a member on here without going to see it .
i sold my silver ph 1 gtt a few months ago, with a standard engine, all welding done, decent bodywork, except the roof paint looked like someone had cleaned it with a scouring pad for £1350.
Yeah I get the point of the oe vs the high spec engine route with regards to resale value. I did consider puting it back to oe as I have pretty much everything to do it. ;) But not that any people seem to really want a completely std oe 5 these days.
But with regards to my engine & the spec, its pretty much standard, done 86K. I got it in 2002 did 6K in it before puting into storage. My mate owned in for 4yrs, he put 12K on it driving like miss daisy, he is an old git afterall lol. He bought it off his mate, yet another oldie who had it for 6yrs & did 28K in it & 2 more previous owners did the other 40K. I've got a stamped full history up to 60K, then it was serviced by a local renault mechanic up untill I bought it. I've got all the MOTs & Sorns since new & the folder of receipts is huge lol. The engine really is sweet as a nut & runs so quiet its untrue. A well looked after std engine should possilbly outlast a high spec rebuilt one, but people do also generally want more power & power does sell untill it all goes bang that is, then they wish theyed stayed standard with a bar of boost & be done with it.:wasntme:
I'd certainy not like to let mine go for less than 3K judging by the price of other 5's at the mo, I'd rather keep it as I don't actually need to sell it. But I've always wanted a Williams eversince they first came out & after nearly 20yrs of 5GT ownership I do fancy a change. I went to see one last week. Was up for 3.5K. He wanted to swap it for my 5. He wanted to do the deal but I said no as In my opinion his williams needed a full respray as it was pretty tatty on the outside. He was gutted but I drove away happy with the fact I still had my 5. Yeah I could save up for one, but with general day to day life costs & a house, so a mortgage & a MY06 scooby to run its gona take for ever lol. & I don't need three cars. I don't need 2 really do I lol. One thing I have noticed since I been using the 5 is that the scooby feels so good after a weekend of driving the 5, its in another league & shows just how much things have progressed. :)
Maybe I'll just stick some for sale signs in it when I take it for a drive & see what happens, maybe stick it in the classidieds or on pistonheads if I really do want to sell it or maye I'll stick with it & put her back into storage for another 5 yrs lol. :D
