View Full Version : oil for track day use ? F7P engine
always used comma 10w/40 in all my f7p 1.8 16v engines and never had problems
on the good old daily runs but i want to do a few track days this summer and would like to try something that is suitable for running hotter .
opinions please ?

if your oil's too hot your going to want to sort the cooling before you worry about the oil

i have been on track before and the highest my water temps gone was
the 3rd line where the fan cuts in to drop the temps . there are no
cooling problems as far as i am aware .
may be i asked the question in the wrong way .
oil gets thinner as temps get high , temps keep at high on a track day .
is there a different type of oil to use that will work under these hotter conditions
is what i meant . if there is would there be any downsides on the daily use
such as running tappety etc .

by temps I mean oil temps, not water temps. No oil is going to like getting too hot, you won't gain much from a fancy oil. Get the oil temp right before you worry about the oil
