View Full Version : setrab oil cooler
i know ive got another thread about my oil cooler at the moment.
but i really need some help with this, ive messed up the fitting on the actual oil cooler its self. its a setrab oil cooler. and ive been looking at merlin motor sports website, and that has lead me to believe that the fitting can be changed?
can anyone confirm if they are replacable or not?
i bloody hope so.
cheers:agree:
pics of the damaged part. if anyone thinks its not replacable. could anyone reccomed another cooler? cheers
really screwin as to what oil cooler i should buy now. as there is so much choice.

That oil cooler looks knackered! I would buy a mocal oil cooler. Very good but so are the setrab like the one you have. Both the same price, and both look the same only mocal ones are silver.10 row or 13 rows are as big as you want to go. I hope you have a thermostatic plate for that?!

that fitting comes off and can be replaced. the cooler is not knackerd.
erm for what its worth i suggest you drop that oil cooler straight in the bin mate, it looks knackered:eek: never seen one nowhere near that condition:sad2:
do yourself a favor and buy a fresh new oil cooler, will save you alot of faffin around too:agree:
make sure you have a thermostat fitted too, be it in the sandwich plate(which im not a fan of as you have to chop some of the engine mount:disagree:)(why mocal put the stat on that side is beyond me:confused:) or you could go for one of mocals inline stats:agree:
bit gutted if it is knackered as ive just brough it from car.crash and i mullered the thread some how. ive just been looking at the threads and one hole in the top of the fitting looks bigger then the other. like there different fittings. so now im thinking thats how it messed the thread up in the first place.
i have an inline thermostat and in line temp adaptor. would this be ok http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p3691/Mocal-Oil-Cooler-13-row--1/2BSP-(115)/product_info.html?
as ive read on there that less wider ones lol give less of a pressure drop.

unscrew the good adaptor, post it to merlin with a note explaining that you need another one with a return adress. call them first to let them know what your doing.
i have done it many times with them. have you even called them yet?
those threads are differant sizes and differant thread patterns at either end. so you either need a pitch gauge or a stamp.
no i havent called them yet m8, been busy as hell. i just cant see how to get the old threads out? cheers
