As per title I have had fitted for a while now a chrome 3 x 52mm gauge holder (Where the Center top dash vents are) now when it is sunny this is pretty dogey as the sun shines straight in my face of it, I am wanting to take the chrome back to an probably OE dash colour what is the best way to prep the chrome so I can spray it up???

key it up really rub it with an abrasive. the make it smooth so any lines dont show through the paint.

prime it, do 2 coats of colour then laqure 2 or three times with very thin layers

james dnt **** about with all that just primer it as it is it will stick then spray it what ever colour you want or leave it as it is and get another lid that covers the origional gauges and cut it down and make it fit over you 3 gauges its easily done then just cover the lid it will block the sun out and you wont have to spray the gauge holders mate i have to spare lids so you can have one and ill even make it for you

you said all that i one breath! :cooter:

i too am looking at making a 3x gauge holder for the centre vents, thing is im wanting to use the original plastic to make it look as OE as possible. im thinking about chopping up a ph1 centre console i have and use the plastic from it as the gauge holder.

just wondering, is there any modding required before fitting the gauges in the centre vents? is there enough clearence? and is there a certain route for the pipework to get routed to the engine bay for the relevant gauges.?

Two get my holder and gauges to fit tight you have to fully remove the vents I also had to file down where the 3 x gauges go in the vent area as they wouldn't fit in properly some fileing was required to the vent area where the gauges go it now sits in perfectly just annoying when sunny.

Phil I think I may take you up on the offer :cooter:
