A friend of mine has a kit car which he built himself about 15 years ago. It is an amazing looking thing and was all designed and built by himself. Its running a rover v8 with a Un1 gearbox. Now the trouble he has got is that the car is biult on a ford Gt40 chassis and runs the gt40 hubs. At the time a renault shaft and a gt40 shaft were cut in half and welded together. Well as its only done a few hundred miles since built this hasnt been an issue. He took it out the other week and one shaft broke up. He has now had new shafts machined up. Problem is he went to renault for a new spider bearing to sit in the cup on the gearbox and they said there was only one? but its arrived and the center hole is bigger than the old one so doesnt fit the shaft plus the bearings are bigger and wont fit into the cup. Anyone know if there are different ones? bearings are approx 30mm across the faces and shaft is approx 28mm in diameter on the old one . Any help would be great.:)

Does he have the part number for the 'only' one ? Any idea what the UN1 was out of ?Is he sure the box end is Renault as there are many adapters out there for kitcar projects and also Lotus used the box ..
I've only just given a pair of GTA shafts away to be copied :crap:

He said it was a 21T gearbox that was used. He designed and built the car himself so im sure it was all renault stuff. Ill ask him for part number tommorrow.

If it's from a 21turbo it will have UN1-13 on a small silver tag under 1 of the bolts.
