Henry Surtees (son of John Surtees) died after a crash at Brands Hatch today aged 18.
Very sad news.

Was also gonna start a thread on this.

A case of him being in the wrong place at the wrong time :(

I thought all the hubs were supposed to be 'chained' to the cars these days, or is that just in F1?

RIP.

couldnt agree on how such a lame accident as it appeared could kill someone, truly unlucky...... only thing you can hope that it quick and painless,

hope his family can be left to grieve as this is such a waste of a young life, even with the best protection in the world, a cruel twist of fate can end a life in the blink of an eye...

makes me think, in the old day's, he would have ducked....with modern safety features, hanns device, neck bracing....you can't move as freely....with the side protection he may not have even seen it coming

RIP young man...

True, but you have to think, there are many more advantages / lives saved from all the modern safety features, so yes, he may have been able to avoid that certain incident if we didn't have the safety features, but 10 more people may have died due to other crashes where the safety features saved them!

Either way, it's a horrible, very unfortunate death :(

i'M NOT KNOCKING MODERN SAFETY////far from it...

the Senna crash still makes me have goose bumps on the back of my neck....glad we don't see as many "fatalities" as we used too....but track safety has also helped there..

That's awful news, can't imagine how his family feel, and I'm sure with that talent in his blood it's also a huge loss to motorsport :( RIP
