holy cr&p that is sitting high... your rear mount must be the cause, or sit the alloy and plastic top side by side and put up a pic..:)

Kris M

That is very high....I do recall one of the aftermarket carb tops had to have the plastic spacer under the carb removed for it to fit, however yours looks even taller than that !!

its all bolted down tight onto all mounts so is im guessing thats not the problem?

Yeah its got the rubber spacer between inlet and carb.

I got the carb top off ebay i havent got another one i can look at

any thing else it could be?

Something looks a miss there like, is the back engine mount on correct? My asi carb top is close to bonnet but nowhere near like that.

I realise this is a dumb question but that carb looks like it's sitting in the original bracket(sort of) but on top of another extra plate, what's in that space beneath the plate where the carb normally sits?

If thats all ok then its got to be the carb top which im hoping it is as ill get my money back and get one thats correct!!

Also would anybody be kind enough to measure the height of the carb top from its base thats bolts to carb to it heighest point?

any help would be great

thanks

Oh, well those answer my question, that's very tall.

Looking at that i think its the carb top mate, everything looks like its i the correct position and the carb looks good too.

Must admit the design of that carb top looks alot taller than most over alloy carb tops. Try a standard one on there too and see if it clears the bonnet.

i cant see how it is the carb top. if you shrink those segments down on it i still couldnt see how you would clear it. it just looks to high coming off the manifold.

99.9% sure it's the carb top, the other (k-tec & the likes) look alot lower.

This kinda explains my "dumb" question above, I expected the inlet to be lower than that in relation to the top of the scuttle/bulkhead. The dizzy cap and leads also look like they going to be touching as well.

i've got the k-tec alloy lobster and make it little under 8 cm from lobster base(on carb) to the highest point on the lobster

EDIT* just read back through the thread, glad you've sorted it :agree:

Ok havnet tried the new carb top yet should be here soon. But spoke to the seller and it looks as if this isnt goin to be the problem!

what else can it be? From all the pictures above does it look ok?

The inlet manifold was refurbished one from cgb, Exhaust manifold was from my other running engine. It all bolted up ok.

before i put the engine in i replaced all the mounts with CGB's uprated engine mounts.

Now what else would cause this problem can anyone say anything wrong? As anyone got a side view of the exhaust and linlet with carb fitted so i can compare.

i know it could just be the carb top but i dont have that kind of luck:cry::cry::disagree:

any help would be appreciated

Sorry I haven't got back to you till now, I've had no power for the past 3 days!!!!!

The measurement from the flat top of the inlet manifold to the flat where the carb bolts down to is 44mm I hope this helps.

Dave.

i would double check the rear engine mount BRACKET, the one that connects onto the gear box at the back of engine (i think)

ive noticed there are extra holes in the bracket so just wondering if you have put it back in the wrong one?
