View Full Version : Lowering the rear torsion bar
Morning peeps as you know its the ND soon and I need to lower the rear of the car as it didn't handle very well last year. :sad2:
Is there anyone out there who can do this or knows of someone who can, been told cgb can do it, but I'll have to take the rear plastic trim off. One problem with this is that they are glued on and I'd rather not, take em off. :crap:
good god man, bring it to me, ill have it done within a couple of hours :D
I did it the other day no need to take off any trim. ;)

by the time he got to me and id done it, 2hrs max :cooter:
i do my own torsion bars in 5mins
:( im a failure ,, it took me a full day to budge mine.. that was with a full sledge hammer, and taking some huge swings..
Did i go wrong somewhere ,, although mine had never been budged and was sat at standard ride height.. the puller method did not work and instead stripped 2x high tensile nuts

I feel your pain, it happend to me too:cry: but finaly got there.
Think i might raise mine abit, still hitting speed bumps:mad:
Whats the common mesurement that people keep to? when you measure from the top wheel arch down to the wheel hub??
From the top of the centre cap on the hub to the rear arch lower lip, mine is set at 26cm...:D

I think you have a lowering problem mate. Maybe a trip to the Doctors? Admitting it is the first step....:wasntme:
Couldnt go any lower at the front because the subframe was catching on the road/drive
If anyone saw me at National Day 07, they'd have seen it that low :cooter:
Still cant believe you got that over the speedbumps into wicksteed park with a side exit:laugh:
I done a clio 16v torsion bar recently, took me ten mins the bars just slid out:D Some can be a nightmare though.

Those 'bumps were a nightmare...my petrol tank and sills will vouch for that

perfect ride height!! :D:D
all these glacier white 5's coming out of hiding, love it!! ;):D
lets face it.. it really isnt the perfect ride height where performance comes into play, with having so little to virtually zero travel on the rear it must handle terribly and however saying that, its looks 'RUDEEEEEE' brap!
the 205 torsion bars are a ball ache , some require stupid amounts of pressure to remove them, often pulling the trailing arms off.
Next time i get a stubborn one i think ill just let you do it for me though ;)
Nah, handling is pretty deceant...all the bushes/bearings are new...suspension is set to be moderately hard...considering its a daily driver, it drives very well as it is.
Ricardo has nailed it around a few track days, I'm sure he'll vouvh for it too.
I guess it personal preference at the end of the day...and mine is a 'DROP THE BITCH ON ITS ASS' attitude

Nice one chap, I'll get in touch if I can't solve it more local. :agree:
