Ive been told from my doctor that I must do a blood test every time I go in my car and must be over 6.0, and if I dont do a test and have a crash or anything I will get banned straight away. Was just wondering if anyone else has been told this?? Ive been told that DVLA were ment to send letters but they havent.

My Father has diabetes and i work with him everyday,we take turns to drive the van but he has never done a test before driving (he has to do them regularly throughout the day tho and he is type 1) i remember him saying he should inform the DVLA and something about regular eye checks as thats one of the main things that diabetes can affect, not sure if he informed DVLA tho as he was scared at the time that they would take his license away and insurance may go up.............ill ask him tommorow about it m8.

Thanks he should really tell the dvla and insurance, It wont effect his insurance due to discrimination act I would of thought.

Yeah i spoke with him today and he has indeed told his insurance company and his did go up but only slightly as theres more risk (guess it depends on insurance company?) and he is also supposed to do a blood/sugar test before he drives like u said u were told to............however u never know when u could get "low" so in theory u could do a test and still end up having a funny turn even if the test before u started off was ok. (because were builders and always going to pick up materials throughout the day he never tests himself before he drives as he says he knows by now if he's feeling low or not without a test and if he does feel "low" then i drive) He also said he has to have an eye test every 6 months and that gets passed to DVLA also.

Bloody joke to be honest,my old man has had it for over 10 years and last month the specialists finaly made thier mind up that he was type 1 and not type 2,they have tried him on everything and even now his tests are always up n down, not stable at all. :crap:
