Basically my gfs ka got arse ended a few months back (you may remmber my previous post). The other driver has accepted full liability and the car is a write off, however they are now saying they need a recipt for the car otherwise they will pay nothing..

Now the car was brought over a year ago from a shady part of nottingham and there is no reciept.. does that simply mean we are left with no payout.., wtf is this world coming to..

any plans

A receipt!? What the balls!? A receipt isn't a requirement when buying a car privately anyway is it?

if it was bought privately you wont have one

its not a legal requirement when selling a car is it, thats what the V5 is for

Thanks , i thought that would be the case..

Well basically they sent out an accessor who wrote the car off and then they sent us a letter offering £720 as a pre accident damage, i then printed off 5 quotes from autotrader saying showing the market value to be more than what they were offering etc.. (they acutally told me to do this and use autotrader)

Then we get the following letter..

Upon review of your file i note that i do not have any documentation in support of the following items of claim.

Pre accident value of vehicle £720

Please forward the relevant documentation to me as soon as possible, without documentation in support of the item of loss , the third party insurers are not obliged to reimburse you..

So yea sorry the letter is off our solicitor who was appointed to us free of charge though my gfs insurance.. but its news to me that you have ever needed a reciept

:agree: pointless looking at autotrader dj, thats full of prices sellers 'hope' to achieve. insurers are much more likely to base any offer on glasses or the auction cap figure.

If you could do that it would be ideal , ill send you details later.. thing is the insurance themselves valued the car at £720, and then they asked me to send them quotes of cars in the same reg, similar condition etc and specifically told me to get them off autotrader.

They can't do that, autotrader isn't a goverment run company, it just happens to be the biggest name, doesn't mean its always right.

Get a lawyer on it mate, there just trying to worm out of it

aghh crazy now..

We have been refused any more cash and instead they counter offered using 5 quotes of other cars which are less than the amount offered.

Best of it is non of the cars are a good comparision to the car previously crashed into. 2 of the quotes are of P reg cars (damaged one was an R reg), one has mot that runs out this month and one has massive amounts of rot around the bottom of the doors and around the petol cap.
(please take a look for yourselves)

and then the worst of all the quotes this one... As you can see at very very first glance it seems a bargain.. untill you see that massive amount of rear 1/4 damage and door damage..

My plan of action is to write a full formal letter explaining how none of the attached cars are in any way comparable to the car damaged and to list bullet point and annotate everything.

Any advice/opinions on the above..

Also by arguing the case is there anyway that they can actually offer us nothing or less and leave us in a worse situation.
