Hi guys. I put a new turbo on my 5 about a week ago as i blew the other one, ive cleaned out all the pipes etc. The problem is their is now blue smoke coming out the exhaust. Ive checked the turbo and thats fine i done a compression check and they are all the same all though a little low (115 psi) but i noticed the coolent pipe to the top of the rad is being sucked in when reving the car and the engine sounds like its missing if you hold it at the same revs for a minute. Any ideas.

did you do the compression check with the throttle open.have you checked your oil pressure. when you had the head off did you check the ring gaps and check them for wear. is it an original hose thats sucking in

Don't think he's had the head off Richie

If the top rad hose is standard then it is common for the hose to collapse when reved untill the thermostat opens.

Did you do an oil change when you changed the turbo? Also was there lots of oil still in the exhaust pipe when you pulled it apart?

ye throttle was open this time:) it is the original pipe ,also when i took the no 1 plug out some smoke or steam came out but oil and water not contaminated.

Is the water pressurizing in the header tank?

Yes i done an oil change. their was no oil left in the exhaust when i replaced it.but also like i said to richie some steam/smoke came from no 1 piston when i took out the plug.

i will have to check that tomorrow but if so what does that mean and why the blue smoke? By the way thanks for reply

If you have excess pressure in the water system that means you have pressure being forced into it from somewhere else, more than likely a break in the head gasket. Normally the gasket gets pushed out and distorts the water way, if so could be leaking alittle water into the combustion chamber and causing your missfire.

The blue smoke is oil, that has to be burning it somewhere, my bet is there's still oil in the exhaust unless you cleaned the entire system (box's aswell). How did the oid turbo let go?

My other turbo blew the oil seal on the compressor side mate
