I'm poking about the 172 lump looking for things that may need changing. The water pump feels worn to me, slight play in the bearing, and it spins quite freely. It's a 2002 lump with just over 70K on it. My instinct says to replace it whilst the engine is on the floor, opinions please...

no brainer............get it changed....

if you havent already , timing belt and tensioners....

alternators usually good for 70k but not much more...

cam variator....app 70k miles

and always carry spare pencil coil's....

You're worrying me, my 172 Cup is about to hit 60k. My F4R has a coil pack ignition as well.

belt and tensioners are pretty fresh, as is clutch, and I think flywheel.

cam variator feels tight, I'll know better when I reset the timing.

it's coilpack, so that's a bonus.

I'm ordering wishbones and trackrods in the morning, so will add a pump onto the order :)
