Hello all me again after recently finding i had a cracked liner i've decide to rip everything out and clean to paint !!! Basically im after tip's on the best way's to get good results to clean engine and gearbox up so i can paint em !!!!
ive always had my engine blocks chemically dipped/cleaned,leaves absolutly no trace of gunk/grease. infact it cleans the block so well that suface rust starts to form if you dont paint on it pretty quick.!

If it's in bits then you could use a big container with hot water, swarfega heavy duty parts degreaser (Screwfix) and a good stiff dish brush.
The swarfega stuff has an inhibitor in it that prevents the iron from re-rusting.
Then go over with wire cup wheel in a drill or wire brush grinder attachment, blow off, prime and paint.:agree:
Dont forget to wash/blow out all the oilways with Jet wash.

Once you have degreased them, give the parts a vinegar bath - it is amazing at removing rust :)
Por - 15 marine clean
