Hey guys... I'm slowly building up to having the time to begin swapping the lump outta my recently acquired 480T into my GTX... I am a mechanic by trade so know most of the ins an outs, just wondered if anyone had done any guides or any threads about the procedure. Just to have a butchers at how others have done it really, I have had a quick search on the forum but cant seem to find much about!
Any links would be gratefully appreciated :D
Cheers Jonny
Do you mean the B18ft?

Delete the PAS. The B18FT I acquired (from a 1990 480) wouldn't fit in the 5 engine bay unless I altered the PAS bracket so I just removed the PAS completely and run a shorter belt from a Renault 19 1.7 :)

I did mean B18FT to be fair, dunno why I put BF18T... Must have been having a moment
Thanks though guys :D
As you said boostjunky i was gonna ditch the PAS anyway, I think the belt off my GTX lump should act as a shorter replacement for the volvo one hopefully.
Any more probs that people have encountered while doing this swap I'd be glad to hear them.
Cheers

Pretty easy to fit into the engine bay of the 5, if you have the GTX engine already you've got a headstart.
Use the front engine mount off you original block, best to use alternator bracket and belt which will loose the PAS (and poss air-con which mine had), the alternator will then fit in the original position that it is in now on the gtx lump.
It will bold in easily. Get the richmod, lager injectors 230 cc and a t25 turbo. and get up to 180 BHP
goodluck!

Thats a nice conversion you got there Sieger, i've been playing with the Volvo lump abit to see what you can really push out of it here's where i am so far.
Looks very good!
I specialy like the turbomanifold. it gives a bit more room @ the bulkhead.
Next week i'm going to an Megasquirt specialist to see what i need to order and then get it installed. :)

What you having done mate?
You had any internal work done to your engine or is it still stndard?
internals are standard.
i've installed bigger injectors 230 cc standard is 200 cc , modified ECU (Richmod) and removed the 1 bar restricors myself. a td04 turbo (t25/28) turbo, 2,5 inch DP and a fuel pressure regulator. the oil i'm using is 10w60
Last time i had it on the rolling road .
It made 163 BHP and 230 NM @ 0,7 bar (10psi). I couldn't get it higher due to a crappy fuelpump.
So i installed a new uprated fuelpump. now i'm running @ 1.2 bar. i don't know the BHP, but it goes well
If the MS is installed i will uprate the injectors a bit --> to 350 cc
