basically me and my m8 fitted a set of front hi spec brakes today, but when we came to bleeding the car we noticed it has two bleed nipples....we're confused to hell do we need to open them both at the same time or one at a time?

Also we didnt bleed the back brakes would this have caused the whole lot to be really spongy, because once we fitted the brakes and bled the front ones the pedal needs to go right down in order to stop the car.??? please help :S

p.s we kept the brake fluid topped up all through out, and also whilst bleeding the brakes for some reason it didnt seem to be pressurised, brake fluid was leaking out and not 'squirting' out of the nipples

usually u bleed a caliper with the 2 nipples open, but you'll probably need to bleed the rears with pressure or vacuum and try to put a load on the rear axil to open the limiter a bit!

its possible u may have damaged the seals in the master cylinder if u very pumping the pedal to the floor

Bleed each nipple seperate on 4 pots. I had mega issues bleeding my brakes on the rear due to load sensing valve being a git! Get a pressure bleeder or back bleed up hill from the callipers.

It says on the Hi-spec website fitting insructions only use the top bleed nipples on each caliper.

Copied and pasted from Hi-spec website fitting instructions.

Bleed out the brakes, top up master cylinder and keep a VERY keen eye on it throughout this procedure. Remove the dust caps from the bleed nipples at the top of the caliper, loosen bleed nipples (no more than half a turn) and wait and watch until fluid runs out, this will take several minutes. Repeat this procedure on both bleed nipples (i.e. front and back) at the TOP of the caliper, you should not touch the bottom ones.

I would try bleeding your brakes starting from the passenger rear, then drivers rear caliper, then passenger front and then drivers front (using just the top bleed nipples on fronts) and try an easy bleed kit. :)

Hope this helps :)

thanks :) we done it today, there isnt any bottom nipples only ones at the top, however the cars driveable but still a bit spongy...only thing i can think of now as we used a pressure bleed kit and easy bleed kit to do it is that the master cylinder needs replacing..?

have you ever thought that you might now need a bigger master cylinder than the 19mm one you have on there at the moment?
surely more pots, will require a greater volume of fluid pushing on the back of them to move them. - hence why a larger bore master cylinder will do this?
Mr Cooke knows alot about this if i remember correctly....

nope, not me, I made sure my 4 pots had similar piston area to the standard brakes, Mr Grier maybe?

You may well still have air in the system it takes a lot of bleeding to get it right. I *think* closing the rear compensator will help whilst bleeding the rears - use a tyrap or similar. Spongy=air, too much travel=possibly master cylinder too small...

I use a pressure bleed, and 2 people to bleed my brakes, then it's a case of "pressure", "open", "down", "closed", "pressure" etc..... until the pedal feels good.

ezibleed are great bits of kit, used one a while back an makes it an all
better job...maybe zip tie the compensator up to.
hopefully that will sort it or you may have other issues....
