First post!

Got a problem with black smoke coming out the exhaust cant seem to see it on normal driving but wen I come to a hill the car hesitates and I when I change into first a good bit of black smoke comes out the exhaust and then the cars fine, also got a strong smell of petrol when giving it a bit of stick :P

yeah mine chucks out almost soot like black smoke, as i have a white 5 its dotted on the back with black bits and its over fuelling, of at least i hope thats it, as 70 miles on a half tank is arse otherwise

Certainly sounds like overfueling, carb refurb kit costs about £20-30 depending on where you buy from..

is it just a matter of getting a refurb kit and then getting the card set up?

yes or you can buy from the rtoc shop.

mine was slightly running a little rich untill a few hours ago

if your not 100% sure on carbs then find someone near you perhaps a local member to help you through it :agree:

A puff of black smoke when you plant it is fine, maybe a little rich, aslong as it stops aslmost straight away, if it keeps smoking even when your on full boost then you've got major overfueling issues
