View Full Version : Rolling Road Result :)
Just had the 5 RR'd at Hi Tech motorsport in cradley heath...to say im pleased with the result is an understatement.
The carb was stripped down and rebuilt to fuel properly and when running at 18psi the results were 189bhp at the wheels. Which with a 15% loss at the fly works out around 217bhp at the fly.
what you guys think? :agree::disagree:
That your not running 18psi or the rollers are that inaccurate.
But 217bhp is definately a nice figure and will be a handful to drive but fun :D
i knows it def between 18-20 as he normally sets them up at 16 psi, however mick at hi tech wanted to go a little bit more than 'normal' with my engine..

sounds like his rollers are way out, try it on the 1/4 mile.

Guess ill have to wait and see next time if I can get that 110mph mark :) last time round the rolling road and my mph were spot on so im hoping its not going to be any different next time round :D

Guys, whats making you say that the rollers are out from the v.little information given, what gives it away apart from the notorious rep that RR's have?
Smallish turbo and also low boost for that sort out power output.
If anything id guess with how inaccurate some rollers are the 189bhp is more at the fly figure.
well the average a car loses through wheels are 15% power, so i calculated it to be roughly 217 at the fly, so are you guys saying his rollers are showing the car is slower than it should be. or do you think the car is being shown to have more power than it should have?
obviously its what it does on the strip that counts, but it previously fared well against alex-R5's 197bhp r5 by beating it in third/fourth gear (undertook) (and that has a T3)...ill wack it on aldon automotives rollers next month to see how they compare...but i thought it would be around the 200 mark myself.
Btw cheers for your input guys
edit: its also beaten the blue T28 R5 that was setup by sparkie/scoff? one or the other (sorry for not knowing) reg was E223SON
nothing to do with me.....
my bad then might have been scoff, it was setup by one of you guys that are quite handy with engine work

I'd say his rollers are showing your car has more power then the car actually has, 217bhp is quite high for the spec of the engine you have.
my work is alittle more agricultural than scoff's, in keeping with what people in the west mids are willing to pay.

also 15% tranny loss can be high, depends on gear etc, our civic made 439hp fly, and 399hp wheels, which is under 10% loss! and that was measured by the rollers, but that was 5th gear pulls...
yea but your civic isnt exactly 'normal' is it Rob :cooter:

Also E223SON i think was set up by us rings a bell...also if it is the car im thinking never made huge power tho....

All tranny is normal tho... will be far from normal in 12months i hope.. :)
189hp at the fly would be more realistic.

awesome machine dude :agree:

beaten in what respect ?
the only contest I'd be interested in seeing the results from was a trap speed vs. trap speed contest on the 1/4 mile. If it's anything less then I'm not interested.
18psi will not make 217hp. it's almost impossible. you would have to have in excess of 97hp with no boost (1.24bar of boost = 2.24bar absolute. 217hp/2.24 = 97) and that just doesn't happen in c1j world.
I've also been around more rollers than most folk and I can assure you that what comes out of 90% of them is BS.

on a good day
kk cheers guys, beaten i mean as a race on private land (tarmac). Just got back from work and took it on the first run as my bro took it in for me this morning and all i can say is its immense, the car is like a train!.
The turbo is only small, but it spins up and pulls like a T3, well in my opinion i think it pulls harder then my bros T3 and thats also been fuelled correctly and running around the same boost.
i need to get to a 1/4mile :)

btw, why do you think your GT2056 is a roller bearing turbo? The factory rollers have an R on the end, eg GT28R

It took me bloody months of fettling the engine, carb setup, charge temp issues, more boost, turbo changing, valve issues, to finally get 180bhp and 179ft/lb of torque. Was Really pleased with that. Imo that was the limit for reliability as it was reving to 7800rpm!!
i need to get to a 1/4mile :)
York RWYB this weekend :agree:

or Santa Pod this weekend, and Long Marston next weekend;)
lamps where did u get it done? did they strip it down for u and do everything etc? price?
just need it setting up again with the cam in it, minor tweak
hi tech motorsport mate in cradley heath, yeah they stripped it down and then re done the carb to match boost.
Just got mine checked out there too dan. 191 at the wheels so im happy with that :) at 21 psi mind you. Sounds about right, maybe a bit too high
I'd say fly figures.... not wheels..
