I am about to buy some wire to start making my engine loom, but what ampage raiting should i get?
Also would this http://trigger-wheels.com/store/index1.html (wiring and accessories, deluxe engine loom), do the job?
Cheers
1mm Tri rated should be fine for 90% of it there are a few bigger ones like to the alternator but there prob 4mm or 6mm need to look at your old and measure them

I have, see http://www.rtoc.org/files/Technical%20Files/Chris%20Hebden/Main%20Engine%20Loom%20Harness%20Details.xls
As you can see the outer dia. varies a bit but how does that relate to the amps now?
well the thicker the diameter the more copper is in it so the more amps it can carry hence why 6mm thick cable can carry more amps then 1mm cable

So back to my original question, what ampage should i be looking for?
http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/70 shows a 1.6mm wire being able to accept 11amps, is this going to be enough for the smaller wires?

Nice one, thank you! For the thicker wires i am going to get wires to suit. So presumably the ready made wiring loom will be fine for use?
yeah the 5mm wire should be fine in the kit
