Its been a long time since ive driven one of these r5 gt turbo's, and not sure if its the car or just me. the engine is running sweet with standard boost.

Is there anyone local to me that can come and drive my car for me and tell me if it me or the car;) im in Rochdale.

Cheers Mark

my r5 is running standard boost, and i certainly wouldnt call it quick, i think they feel very slow at standard setup.

UPDATE

following from above.
right, when i drive the car with the accelerator 3/4 of the way down the car pulls and boosts fine running 11psi carb top.
when the car is pulling and the turbo is boosting every thing seems fine but when i put my foot to the floor the other 1/4 to the floor the car seems to struggle then not struggle, struggle then not you get the picture.

i just thought a spark plug or lead was breaking down on full load. so i changed the leads, spark plugs, checked fuel pressure (all good), the problem was still there, so i put my other spare carb on and the problem was still there again:mad:
I also dissconnected a turbo pipe to run it as a 1.4 and the problem was gone!! no sign of the engine struggling but was very slow and smooth:laugh:
soo......
the cab is ok
the leads ok
spark plugs ok
fuel pressure ok

do you think my coil is playing up when its on full boost???? is there any way of testing it.
Need your help guys:sad:

have you checked your dizzy and rotary arm?

Remove the coil pack that bolts onto the AEI 2 x torx screw, get a 12v bulb or spare rear light holder with bulb and just connect it direct to the 2 x connection points on the AEI once the coil pack removed. It should flash with the crank signal.

Or if you can get hold of another AEI and test that out and see if prob still there, be even better if you can borrow one of a working car that has not probs.

Try closing your plug gaps slightly..

The problem is gone!!!!
it either one or the other?

i took the dizzy off and cleaned connectors, to be honest they looked clean already, also took the timing sensor off and cleaned the tip as it was capped in crap!

well happy with it!! pulls like a train now!:cool2:

Thanks again fella's
