Was reading an article the other night on fitting r1 bike carbs onto your engine, theres a company based in yorkshire that can make up the inlet manifold then just fit the carbs on, but i presume the work involved would be as much as running EFI as the r1 carbs run of throttle position sensors so ECUs etc would be needed

just been pondering the idea and wondered if anyone else had more of an idea??

You mean Bogg brithers.....
Yes bike carbs work well in N/A form, lots of kitcar owners fit them instead of Webers.....A fraction of the price of Webers and never go out of tune.

yeah thats the ones :agree:

has anyone else run these on the C1J engine? would these possibly work well for better fueling and starting/more reliable than the carb at a cheaper price than EFI of throttle bodies etc.

although as mentioned before will ECUs and sensors be needed to run them?

if ya get r1 carbs as opposed to the later r1 throttle bodies, you shouldn't need them... however.... an r1 doesn't fuel for boost, so i dont know how you'd get it to fuel under pressure, plus you'd need some sort of plenum

didn't big g put bike carbs on an f7r in a 5?

Its things like that i wasn't sure on, i'll see if i can find any info on them.

whereabouts/what is the plenum needed for? I've read about how you need one making to run efi, but thought it meant inlet manifold?! Soz to seem simple lol

I started having a go at this a couple years ago (but with Fireblade carbs), but due to family problems the project was put on hold and never started again. I made my own carb plenum and got all the bits needed for an inlet manifold just never got it welded up. Plenty of info out there about modifying the carbs for boost and it is suprising simple to do. I hope to continue with it again some day.

e-mailed someone who has some carbs for sale and apparently they can take a cable but also have a throttle position sensor aswell if needed :agree:

i put them(r6) on a gts a few years back and found i had no decent room for a plenum, plus the manifold-port alignment was very poor because of the lack of space.i also put an su on to the gtturbo but could'nt get it to go right on boost so if u want to take my advice on it ...dont bother, too much time and hassel for dissappointing and inconclusive results!!:)

fair enough, thats what i wanted to know if anyone else had done it before to see if it was worth it
