i need to order some suspension parts.

both strut top mounts.
spring covers. or would you think i would be ok to use the old ones?
strut top hats.
and the bearings.

thinking of getting them from cgb. do you think renault would be cheaper? sounds stupid lol

Well the top mounts are no longer available from Renault, so CGB refurbs are probably your best option.

Just out of interest, why would people need to order new strut top mounts? I can't see how this part actually wears out that much to cause trouble... Granted that the bearings, rubbers and top hats fail but if any of these break surely you wouldn't be driving around without a care in the world thus causing more damage to other suspension and steering components...would you?

i thought i might as when the car was on the road i had a knocking coming from the top of the suspension. and i havent really looked into what parts has failed i was just going to order the bits.

swo what youre saying UNICRONICUS is that more then likely the top mounts are fine? and i could get away with just replacing the others.

would save me some pennies.

Gsf top mount definitely wont fit a ph2 gtt, i dont think its even the same as a ph1 aswell.

Its very rare the top mount actually fails, they usually look rusty & crap that's about it. Even if the ring comes away, if the metal aint too bad it can be welded back on. If the bolts snap/strip, drill them out & bolt through.

yeah i no a couple of the bolts have snapped whilst trying to undo them. is it a hard job to fix that? cheers

I done exactly what you are talking about a couple of weeks ago and posted on the old forum.

Hope this link helps. I got the parts from CGB.

Drill them & re-tap the hole. Its a lot easier than looking for good used top mounts.

I didnt need to change the top mounts mate. Only replaced the parts pictured. The top mount did not really seem to be worn in comparison.

Unless your after something spotless I would suggest the money is better spent on the other parts.

Mines a phase 2.

the top hat will more than likly be causing your knocking noise from all the suspension set up, ad will mostly look like robbo's picture if not worse :agree:
