This is a bit of a simple question really but I have got my engine all wired up now with all news sparkies, new HT leads, new dizzy + rota) blah blah now Gone to crank it tonight and I have no spark to king lead, my fuel pump primes

So i have done the usual checks, Relay beside AEI swapped with a known working one (made no difference), now the only thing I can think of replacing is the TDC and checking the AEI is getting power and not a dogey AEI?

I take it on the pic attached the + is the +VE

If the fuel pimp is priming them it won't be the TDC mate, check that power is going to the AEI and it has a good earth. If it has could be a faulty AEI unit mate.

Cheers Mark i thought it would be down to the AEI, will make sure power getting to it tomoz, didn't think about earth will check that aswell tomoz.

Assumuing an o.e setup, if the pump is working it must be getting a signal from the tdc/aei, which proves the aei must at least be powering up.

Check to see if you're getting 12v at the coil + terminal. If so, and there's no ht, it could be the coil-pack.

Edit: Another test is to remove the coil-pack and put a 12v bulb across the coil connectors on the aei - Crank the engine and the bulb should flash in sync/time with the starter rpm. If it does, it's defo an ht problem.

Ah yes i forgot, the fuel pump relay works off the AEI's tacho signal wire, i must be loosing it:)

Nah mate, that's why I mentioned about the o.e setup, just incase the relay wiring had been modified/wired direct to the ignition/battery, etc.

Ok done the light test and it did as Sir Mart said flashed with the signal so I decided to put the coil pack back in and try one of the smaller ht leads in place of the king lead to which I have spark so looks like knackered king lead. Looks like trip to halfrauds tomoz to get one
