View Full Version : Boost Gauge Readings

I had gauge hose plumbed before the carb and it was showing 23 psi. Now I have it placed after the carb (inlet manifold) and readings drooped around 4-5 psi. Is it possible that I loose that much boost through the carb? Also, vacuum reading on idle are around 11.5 - 12 psi. Does that seams OK?

If readings are not precise in decimals that is because i have bar scale gauge ;)

Thanks

why not run it off the orignal pipe elbo, your see it down behind the carb, mine has a black plastic elbow then pipe runs thought the bulk head
but i dont know if it should bt that low!

Sounds about right.
Std carb uses that pressure drop to give good fuel pickup from the jets.

:agree: 2-3 psi loss is usual at 10-14 pound. So i wouldn't be alarmed at losing 4 or 5 psi at 23 pound.

4-5psi drop is normal. Likewise, although the scaling is wrong as such, your vacuum reading sounds about right as well.

sorry to hijack but why would my vacum reading on my boost gauge be going up and down slightly at idle? is this normal or could it mean my mixture is wrong?
cheers:agree:
