Thanks phil, but won't be needing till next year, looked at their website and their products look realy good, keep up the good work. :agree:
As said yesturday, I doubted the gauges etc at first.. now seeing it comming together it looks really really smart. Individual ideas and seeing it through... amzazing darts mate ;)
Really good to see someone doing some pretty handy bodywork / welding to a 5 rather than just scrapping. Ive seen 5`s scrapped with ALOT less rust than that :agree:
cheers mate alot of people tried to tell me to scrap the car and put a new shell on but i cant see the point in replacing a bad shell with another around the same age and i didnt want to put a campus shell on either i have had this car for years and it will take alot for me to ever get rid of it it was my first car and i feel im married to it now lol
Awesome project and coming along quite nicely :agree:
Once that welding is done, you won't need to touch it again :)
I'm doing mine early next year and plan to do the whole lot, sills & jacking points in particular.
Can't wait to see the finished article :)
cheers mate good luck with yours i had to replace every thing as the whole car was rotten including jacking points and boxing sections mate how far will you need to go with yours

I know my sills are in need of some tlc, hence replacing them outright.
Jacking points are screwed at the rear, fronts look alright but I plan to do it all in one go. Box sections look good, will know better when the car is stripped :)
Aiming to have the 2ltr in and running early next year, the bodywork will follow soon after :D

cheers wallace it should look very suttle when its finished
some pictures of the tailgate recess being shortened the correct way and welded in not flapped over
Really like this idea Phil, will look the nuts.
Will it be complicated to modify the plastic cover / number plate light section?
Really like this idea Phil, will look the nuts.
Will it be complicated to modify the plastic cover / number plate light section?
cheers mate
yes it should fit as i made the plates myself to the exact size so the plastic trim would fit with an equal length space between the ends without moving the number plate lights closer in. I wanted to do it this way to try and keep it looking origional rather than a box section
ok its been a while since i added some more pics so here are a few more cars has now taken a little longer than i thought but will now be back with me on the 4th of june the work is incredible and these pics dont do it any justice managed to get pics before it got flattened and polished so it will be a lot more shiny when i have it the sprayer is amazing and this finish is straight out the gun before prep and polish
you can see in the end 2 pictures where they had just started to flaten the paint i will now add some more i have
ok these are the last pictures to put on there was 4 things on the car that i was not happy with and thats why its not back till june bloody oven gets to warm and distorted parts of both doors and to plastic arches but should all come back well hope you all enjoy regards phil

To be honest Phil you are so close to finishing, the problem with your build is that nothing is simple. There are alot of custom / non standard one of parts going on which is whats taking its time to make sure fitted correctly, if you had another full week of work it could be done easily. within that time. Then once it's running it still needs the carb setup and the VNT will need setting up to how you want it to run etc... Oh and more money to throw at it LOL

many thanks mate i have made the air box so it comes out in 2 sections the lid is held in at the back end by the inner and outer wing and is screwed in at the front end of the box and the large panel that will hold the filter in sits in 2 lengths of box section aluminium and can slide out once the lid is removed sounds more complicated than it is though mate
cheers phil :)

ok bit more progress made this week but not alot of time spare at the mo with work and the new born but still trying to crack on with the olde girl
progress made heater matrix now turned round and connected up on inside of the car to allow perfect tight bends coming out the bulk head so loads of clearence from the down pipe
water system all complete now including moving the header tank and re routing some pipe work including heater matrix pipe work
charge cooler now all bolted down in position and half the pipe work connected up and complete just waiting for big jim to come round on monday to bend/weld some pipe work for me :)
bonnet re fitted to make sure it does not fail on the header tank, next job find a nice home for the charge cooler header tank and bosch bump but running out of a little room :laugh: and the finally connect up pipes from pre rad to cooler with the idea of trying to hide the pipes between the inner and outer wing to keep it neat and to keep it running as cool as poss
will upload more when engine is almost finished
a couple more
cheers phil
:ashamed:Just had an accident in my pants seeing those pics.
Phil, top work matey that chargecooler pipe run looks a right pain in the arse to sort out, am likeing the way you are sticking it in the bulkhead to give it some protection from the engine bay heat.
