Hello, on another forum someone has said thier turbo spools up later ie 3500 instead of 2500 because they have a bigger airfilter. Is that right?

Is this not because they have a different turbo. I.e. T28.

Nope. That is not true.

What things could change the rpm that the turbo spools up?

size of manifold and size of turbine housing

after all its the exhaust gasses that have to pressurrise before the turbo housing/blades before it takes affect, so if you took the same dia tubes from the head straight to a flange on the turbo id guess you could have the potentional to have instant boost??

Cam, if the turbo was a vnt you can adjust the vanes

which by increasing the volume of air going out in turn creating bigger cfm?

So an ECU cannot control a turbo spool up?

a ecu can control the acuater if its set up that way
mine spools at 2k by the way

The engine map can play a part too but the airfilter change is just BS. If anything it would have the oposite effect should the old filter have been so bunged up that the pressure ratio across the turbo was exaggerated.
