i was thinking i might just buy a welder and start welding , it cant be that hard not worth doing a course for surely unless you need it for work, have a bit of a practice first you know

loads of good stuff on you tube about welding and ebay do the learning CD's.

I recently watched some you tube vids on Flux mig welding, gave some very good tips.

Even though this guy seemed a bit dodge I found it quite useful

I picked up the welder for one of the first times last week and have been making a sand blasting hopper. Going very well :)

Thanks Rob, i will keep my eye out for some equipment. What kind of welding is needed for cars?

I'm certainly no expert but I am quite sure it would need to be a mig with gas.

The flux core is great but I could see it just blowing holes straight through a car panel. (especially a 5 as we know how thin they are)

Good luck

Kenobi, ive always been interested in welding. Ive just been on a 20 week evening class paid for by my work. Learnt, arc, mig, gas + all techniques...also now been learning how to TIG weld aluminuim....really worthwhile IMO ;):D
