Does anyone know if part of the £2000 government scrappage scheme conditions are that the car MUST be scrapped?

Ie if say your car is worth only £300 but in all honesty its perfect has full MOT and some tax. Would they deffinatley scrap it, or would they perhaps sell it on, you know the dealers.

Coz you could trade in an old 5 get ya £2000 knocked off and then buy the 5 back for £300.

Or whatever.

You know what I mean?

Legally they are meant to be scrapped, they are declared as scrapped!

But it has been known already for a car down here to be back on the road.... some scrap yards are risking losing there scrapage licence!

Does scrapped mean declared scapped as in you can go buy the car back and break it aslong as its never on the road again?

Tbh i dont think many scrap yards on the scheme are interested in breaking the car, but i am sure if you ask before hand to remove most off the parts you want, they may let you.

you'd also need to find out where its going after you hand it over to the dealer...thats if they tell you?

from what i know, it goes to the scrapyard to be crushed, not twhat we know as the breakers,
then stuff gets recyclyed
ie steel alu plastics glass etc

when its scrapped its scrapped on this scheme or like kenobi has clearverly thought of breaking it your self
this would defet the goverments objective to rid of old cars, but gave no thought in to what owners thought

tho there will never ever make it compulsory, unless they give me a extra 20k scrappage insentive to get a r26.r:D
altho

now its a thought, get talking to some one at renault that like the ole 5gtt and say look, declare this car scrap, ill take it home and break it, as im sure it will get more use beeing passed on to fellow r5 owners, and here... have the logbook and ill sign it scrapped ;)

right i work for vw as a salesman and yes the cars are meant to be declared as scrapped but i also have a mate who runs a scrap yard and what he has told me is that all the cars are stripped completely before they are scrapped without the govourment knowing if the car is a runner they will advertise the engines on ebay the winning bidder comes round sees it running then will come back a few days later to collect the engine once it is out of the car then the cars are scrapped and most of them sent to northern europe

Some facts for ya,
The dealer is the one who puts his neck on the line, they give the £2000 scrapppage allowance to the customer and then claim the money back from the government upon its scrappage. For example, the Ford offer is £1000 from gov, vat exclusive and 275 from the dealer with the rest being 594 manufacturer and the rest of the 2nd thousand is vat.
For the dealer to get the 594 from ford and the 1000 from the government they must declare the vehicle as scrapped to the dvla and obtain a certificate of destruction from the ATF, authorised treatment facility (scrapyard)
Without these actions and proof of it you cannot get your 1594 quid back.
So
If you take a car in you feel you could retail and you inform the customer you are not going to scrap it, and they accept that then you can for-go the 1594 and take it as a normal px but that would be rare.
Of course you have to rely on the ATF to dispose of the vehicle and not allow it to go back on the road but this could not legally happen as the car has been declared as scrap.
The paper trail is truly awesome and we have to keep all paperwork in a secure location until 2017 and can be audited at any time.................
If you would like a good deal on a scrappage scheme ford vehicle then let me know by pm, it does apply to the RS and St models also and yes, i appreciate that this is a renault site (i have a ren5 an audi and an alfa oh and a company focus) but worth a punt as its what pays for my 5 :agree:;) when i say a good deal i mean a good deal:agree::)

I've seen two Focus RS' on the road in the last week, and they look fairly desirable. Mind you, the one I saw at the petrol station yesterday didn't half chuck out alot of black smoke when it came on boost.

Been round the Prestwold circuit that ford use for drive days on Wednesday this week in an RS, they are pretty impressive and have some trick suspension parts new to fwd (revo knuckle) that give it unbelievable grip for a macphearson strut set up.

With focus rs its more about availability than price, we were only allocated 6 this year and only have 2 available orders left. There is an 800 quid price increase due 1st july.

As scrappage is part funded by the dealer most would not do it on an RS but I would and more importantly I could supply a vehicle. Discount is a mewt point on the rs but i am sure i could arrange a discount for a serious order, any orders placed before the end june get the pre-increased price regardless of delivery.

Base price excluding scrappage and/or discount is 25745 exc options, best colour IMO is White and its free :agree::)

Talking of rs's there was a bloke in the sun last friday asking if he should scrap his escort cosworth and get a new golf gti?? Apparently (it was the sun) his missus didn't like the cosworth and he thought it might not be worth 2k?? Unbeleivable but is deos make me wonder what amazing cars are now being crushed because the owners are either too lazy to sell or just plain idiotic. :rob:
