It was originally planned to hold this event in May, then June, then July........
basically the delay has been the fact that non of the club polo boys wanted to go to Shakespeare Raceway again 'cos they thought it was rubbish.
They wanted it at pod or not at all. For a while i said not at all then. Personally i really cant see the point of attending a RWYB at pod and trying to hold a head to head competition, not when you spend over an hour waiting in line for a go up the strip.
Anyway the Polo boys have emailed me basically saying that a lot of them will be going to saturday night special at Pod on 11th October and why dont we have the rematch then?
Ive seen on this thread that a few of you already intend to go to saturday night special-

So if anybody else fancy's taking on the G40's (now new and improved with added subframes and turbos) add your names below.

Cheers.

i would be up for it if we had a event like our last one at pod, i feel we could have caterd for alot more cars as there was never a que. so why not hire pod again next year and offer say 40 places to the polo boys and make some money into the kitty aswell. i got abit bored racing myself down the strip.

we could have catered for a lot more cars. But as only 48 cars turned up im glad i only booked 60 places for £3500 and not 100 for £5500!
your right thou, it's an idea for next year, not just the polo lot but a few other renault clubs (maybe even the RS lot as well). tbh i invited the polo boys to this years Pod day in July, they all moaned that £65 a ticket was too much, bunch of tight arse VAG heads!!

.........But for this years rematch it's at Pod on 11th October, so please add your interest below, muchly thanking you peeps, innit :D

Iv spoke to a few mates and looks like we'l be coming up.

Il be taking the 5, its pretty much standard so not going to be doing amazing times. Hope we can get some quick 5's there to show what the 5's can do.

My mates that will be coming in a corsa vxr, astra vxr stage 3, pulser and maybe a few more...

Will be camping and hopefully making a good night of it...

Hope its a good one.

Strangle yes, still have flat spot now and then but im running a porsche needle jet which worked well just going to do a few carb changes and go back, i was going to do some cam adjustments and alot of dyno runs etc to get more from the car but im unsure weather ill be using the C1j next year or the car even so just didnt want to spend any more or time on the car.....

Interesting that you use a Porsche needle jet, never realise they would fit in the 5 carb top.

Be a shame to get rid of the car mate as you haven't had it long, with you on loosing the C1J though i think there's alot more potential out there with another engine, not that i'm knocking the C1J:)

The needle is still a solex 2mm as std. The good thing with the C1j i that its cheap and cheap to fix..... :)

Im there for this, can't wait.

I think a good place to hold this would be the gti fest. I'm friendly with Brian Burrows who runs and owns VW ACTION.
I have been allowed to run my car there before, as long as i told everyone it was VW powered.
I might be able to get a invite for a few cars.

Just a thought? Is it worth a email?

Next option is a peak performance day slighty more to sign on but smaller ques and better tracks.

Yeah that is true mate, i'm finding that with the Volvo mate and i haven't even got it running yet, think i could of built 2 or my old c1j's for the price of my lump.

Ive looked at the peak performance day, it is another option, but price might put some people off.

If the 11th is quiet, and they que in 2 lanes, it could work.

Get to the front pull over and wait for a polo to turn up.

Over the weekend i heard from the G40 guy who is arranging this head to head to say that next to no polos will be there.
As far i can make out, 2 G40 owners have said they are going, neither of them in their G40's

Hate to say it, but the rematch WILL NOT be happening this year.

Ill try arrange it for next spring :)
