R9/11 Steering racks

anyone know how many different types of racks were fitted to r9/11 s ?
lookin at buypartsby.com there are 4 different types of racks including
2 p/s ones ? i know mine is the manual ,splined pinion one but last one i bought
that fits the criteria did not line up with the mounting points on the subframe :crap:

I had same prob with mine.

Euro car parts had 2 types in stock with splined and square pinions and none was the correct type for my car.

They both had the mounting brackets welded onto the rack like number 1 in the pic.

My brackets are like C shaped and bolt the rack to the car like number 2 in pic.

I ended up buying a 2nd hand one off a fellow member in the end.

looking at old pics , mine is same type pinion as number 2 but i think that
end piece is an adaptor going over the splined bit ,which can be swapped over
to a new rack ??
the mounting looks same as number 1 though :confused:

so what type pinion does the 11 turbo have mate ??

Yes that universal joint thing comes off the pinion.

mine has a round splined pinion.

That sounds the same as my one. I had a real problem sourcing one for mine as I kept getting the thicker GTL/ GTS types when I ordered a turbo one! In the end I got a recon one, which took ages to get as they only had one in stock. I'm now selling my rack if you're interested.
