replacing steering rack gaitor

How hard is it to do the above as one of mine is ripped, also is it an mot failure and how much are they.

hardest bit is undoing the track rod ball joint....
after that, count the amount of turns you do to remove it.....remove the lock nut...cut off old boot......fit new boot and secure with clips....fit lock nut, refit track rod end with the recorded amount of turns, (so it goes back in exactly same place)...tigten it all up...job done.
