I know the feeling, but speaking from experience, I tend to find that Civic Type R drivers seem to think they're the fastest thing on the road. :(

back in the day, and this is only 11 yrs ago, I had a citroen ax gt, I thought it was the dogs danglys, and one friend had a r5 gtt, and another had a xr2, we had abit of a drive one eve, for afew hrs! and traffic light granprix, the xrpoo just had a different exhaust, mine had exhaust, lowered on spax, airfilter, stipped out abit 15" alloys and kuhmo tyres, and the r5 had airfilter, exhaust, alloy cooler, and boost up'd abit, with 15" alloys on yokos oh some sort, the rds were abit wet, but the turn out was that the ax was quicker than the xr2, and the r5 was faster than me, once he got grip, i shot away for the first 5 secs, then he came flying past.

Round about the same time another friend had a xr2, pretty much standard aswell, diff exhaust, poo alloys with cheap tyres, once again the ax gt was quicker from the lights.

did all this prove anything..... appart from being young fools, errr no.
Tyres make a big difference, the driver makes a difference, the road conditions make a difference, last year I had a mk1mr2 that only had a different exhaust(like that does anything) and I gave an 03 plate type r a run for his money, and round about the same time had a tussle with a guy who worked at the same place as me, i was in an e30 325, he was in a 306 gti, on throttle bodies, caged up, stripped out, poly windows blah blah, he was abit quicker than me, but no much considering his throttle bodies cost what my whole car did.

Yes I'm still abit of a trev racer at heart, but unless it was round a track i still say you cant judge what car is faster, and even then its still down to the driver.

i could of gone twice round one island for the time it took the type r to take it once.

but i was fresh back from the ring and i bet all he had done lately was mansfield circuit.

didnt proove anything at all except how much i loved my williams.

The only run in I've had with a Type R Civic was when I was just minding my own business when I noticed two guys in a Type R looking at my car, having a little joke between themselves.
