Where is the best place to obtain the best quality head bolts for the C1J?

You after the usual 12.9 high tensile ones mate or something abit stronger.

If your after the 12.9 i got a big box of them here, could send you a full set it you like

I got a set of unbrako 12.9s from my local fasteners, supposed to be good bolts, Pretty cheap too.

Cheers guys, the issue i have is that i torque them up to quite a ridiculous poundage and the 8mm allen type head is not really up to the job, even though the bolts are, the socket starts to turn in the head of the bolt so i either have some naff ones at the mo or i need some large torx type or poss the usual bolt head style (but in high tensile)

One thing i have always thought about looking into is a stud conversion, i know a few on the cosworth boys have run this just wondering if its possible foir the 5 and even if it work out to be stronger.

As ridiculous as Sparkie used to? Around 120lb/ft, I seem to recall :D

Reaction 1.2253
60ft 1.9508
330ft 5.1499
1/8 ET 7.6431
1/8 MPH 101.19
1000’ ET 9.6739
¼ ET 11.5221
¼ MPH 125.58

just found out my time from stu, that was the last run we did testing and the nos ran out, every run after that was no nos and with a slipping clutch, on this run i didnt go for an et as was still getting to grips with the afr's
its spurred me on to have a crack at the 10's this summer...................again
:)
note the embarrasing 60ft on m and h slicks.......;)

Awesome mate. I can't see you being far off. Once you have bagged the setup needed, it can only get better from there on!:agree:

here is out timeslip stuart from our 11.1 pass, i really think this would of been a high 10 sec pass if we didnt blow the hose off, basically you can compare the 2 and see where you need to improve.

Reaction 1.1904
60 FT 1.7279
330FT 4.7414
1/8 ET 7.1701
1/8 MPH 99.68
1000FT 9.2291
1/4 ET 11.1634
1/4MPH 114.33

So you can see by the better 60ft, of 2 tenths, its multiplied by the 330ft to over 4 tenths, even with less speed to the 1/8 mile! the 330ft is a real good indicator for a quick ET, and yours can improve a fair bit yet. could do with seeing your best 330ft if you have it. but it would seem you have the power for it, just the 330ft is killing you.

as i said to you on the saturday too, i`d loose those 15`s, you`ll save a ton of weight, improve traction, and have room to experiment with gearing via tyre size, chuck some campus discs on there and get it sorted ;) you wont look back
